After prayerfully considering the suggestions offered at a congregational meeting, the results of nearly a hundred completed surveys and emails, and the recommendation of the Worship Ministry Team, the Church Council of FUMC voted overwhelmingly on July 19 to change the timetable of our Sunday morning worship and education program (effective August 15, 2010) to the following schedule:
8:30 – 9:30 a.m. Blended Worship (Chapel)
9:40 – 10:30 a.m. Sunday School for All Ages (50 minutes)
10:40 – 11:40 a.m. “Incredible Journey” Contemporary Worship (Fellowship Hall)
11:00 – Noon Traditional Worship (Sanctuary)
The Council also decided to implement this schedule change beginning August 15, 2010, so the congregation will have time to adjust to the new schedule before the activities of the fall begin.
A nursery will continue to be provided during each of our three worship services for children under 2 years of age (Nursery) and 2-4 years of age (Room 109). Older children are welcome, and encouraged, to participate in worship with their families.
We hope the new schedule will provide ample opportunity for everyone to find meaningful worship and Christian education experiences at times that meet the needs of the majority of our diverse congregation.
We are blessed by God to have such a rich diversity of worship opportunities!
See you on Sunday morning!

One of our
early services on Sunday is held in the intimate setting
of our Chapel and features a blend of traditional worship
liturgy, hymns and praise songs.
The
Celebration Singers, a contemporary choral ensemble,
often provides special
music for this service. Many people start their Sunday
with this service followed by coffee and fellowship
and then a choice of classes
for all ages, which start
at 9:40 a.m. |

"Come
as you are" on Sunday mornings at 10:40
a.m. to The Incredible Journey, our contemporary service
held in the Fellowship Hall.
Worship
at IJ is considerd "multi-sensory" meaning that we
use film clips, video projection, live action skits
and all sorts of unexpected approaches to help make
the Gospel story and the week's theme come alive in
relevant and
memorable ways.
Music
for this service is contemporary and varied and
is usually provided by The Incredible Journey Band,
a talented group of singers and musicians.
In 2004, the
IJ Band released an album of music entitled "Steps
of Faith" which includes original songs penned by
band members and covers of popular worship favorites.
Prior to this service are a choice of classes
for all ages, which start
at 9:40 a.m. |

At
11:00 a.m. our Traditional service comes
alive with the sound of First Church's mighty pipe
organ and chancel choir.
A traditional order of United Methodist worship, familiar and uplifting hymns sung with energetic joy, and the elegant classical setting of our Sanctuary combine to provide a welcoming and exciting environment for all who find comfort and inspiration in a majestic "high church" worship style.
Regardless
of style and setting, each
of our three services is usually preached by our senior
pastor, Rev. Al Horton, ensuring that the Word and
teaching remain consistent throughout our church family.
Prior to this service are a choice of classes
for all ages, which start
at 9:40 a.m. |
